The S1 and S8 run direct from the airport station to Munich Hauptbahnhof (Munich Central) in about 40 minutes, every 10 minutes throughout the day. You need a ticket for zones M–5, from an MVV machine or the MVV app.

MUNICH CENTRAL STATION TO TEGERNSEE
Trains run every 30 minutes, with a travel time of around 65 minutes, on the RB 57 operated by Bayerische Regiobahn. Tickets from the BRB app, DB Navigator, or a machine at the station. No reservations needed.

Your platform (Gleis) will be 27–36, in a separate wing on the north side outside the main hall. The station is mid-rebuild, so you'll be routed outside the station and back in via the Arnulfstraße entrance. Coming from the airport you arrive on the underground platforms, so allow 15 minutes to change.

Important: the train splits halfway to Tegernsee. The train to Tegernsee leaves Munich joined to another train. Along the way (in Holzkirchen) they uncouple and go to different destinations. Board the section marked Tegernsee, double-check that the display inside the carriage says Tegernsee, and listen out for announcements along the way. Should you notice that you are in the wrong section, no worries, you’ll have a chance in Holzkirchen to move to the correct train car.

Uber and other ride-hailing apps do not operate in Tegernsee. Take a taxi, about 10 minutes to Spa & Resort Bachmair Weissach. There is usually a rank outside the station, but calling ahead is safer. Please note that some of them do not accept credit cards, so it is worth asking at the time of booking.
